Setting up — read this once

Sequin can’t send texts by itself. On an iPhone, only Apple’s Shortcuts app is allowed to send a message without you tapping Send every single time. So the job is split: Sequin keeps the couples, the counts and the ten-vote limit, and a small shortcut called Sequin Send does the actual texting.

You do this once. Tap Install helper near the top of this page, then Add Shortcut. The first time you vote, your iPhone asks “Allow Sequin Send to send messages?” — tap Always Allow. Tapping “Allow Once” means being asked again on every single vote.

After that, voting is two taps. + Vote once for each vote you want, then Send. Your phone sends them about a second apart, so ten votes takes about ten seconds. Keep the screen on while it works.

If a button ever does nothing, every card also shows the name to text and the number to send it to, with a Copy button. That path always works, even when everything else is broken.

Put it on your home screen

Open this page in Safari (not inside another app) so the text and Shortcut buttons can open other apps.
Tap Share → Add to Home Screen → Add. This is worth doing: Safari erases a site’s saved data after 7 days without a visit, and home-screen apps are exempt. It’s what makes your stars and eliminations survive between seasons.
If a button ever does nothing, the page still tells you exactly what to send: the name in bold, to 21523. Tap Copy and paste it into Messages.

Up to 10 text votes per couple per show night, plus 10 more online at dwtsvote.abc.com. The app never lets a couple go past 10.
Voting opens with the live show — Tuesdays and Wednesdays this season, 8pm ET / 5pm PT — and closes shortly after the last dance. Each show night gets its own 10 votes per couple.
Text voting needs a U.S. carrier, in the U.S. or Puerto Rico. Message rates apply.
Names are what the show announced this week; if ABC announces a different keyword, tap Edit name on that card.
The counter counts taps on this phone. It can't see whether a text actually went through — so after each Send it asks, and one tap fixes the number. Your Messages thread with 21523 is the receipt.
